The MSU STEM Building Project showcases a cutting-edge transformation of the former Shaw Lane Power Plant into a state-of-the-art hub for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education. This ambitious project included a 40,000-square-foot renovation and a 120,000-square-foot addition to the historic coal-fired power plant, which operated from 1947 to 1975. Located across from the MSU football stadium, the building serves as a cornerstone of innovation on the Michigan State University campus. F.D. Hayes played a critical role in this project, handling the advanced data and IT wiring systems necessary to support its modern functionality.
